Ilika and Boeing, the world’s largest aerospace company, will be presenting a joint paper at the forthcoming TMS 2015 conference in March 2015.
The presentation will outline initial results from Ilika’s on-going collaboration with Boeing, which is focused on the development of so-called high entropy alloys. The collaboration is deploying Ilika’s high throughput techniques to make and test advanced alloys with improved strength and reduced weight suitable for use in aerospace structures.
In October 2013, Ilika identified the aerospace sector as a new market for Ilika’s technology platform. There is a high level of demand for materials innovation required to drive forward improvements in aeroplane fuel economy. This joint presentation with Boeing will provide insights into pathways for the development of materials highly relevant for the sector.
TMS 2015 is the 144th annual meeting and exhibition of the Minerals, Metals and Materials Society and brings together more than 4,000 business leaders, engineers, scientists and other professionals in the materials field for the exchange of technical knowledge leading to solutions in the workplace and in society. The meeting will take place from March 15-19, 2015 in Orlando, Florida, USA.
“We are very much looking forward to sharing the insights Ilika’s high throughput techniques offer into the innovation of this interesting class of new materials. The combination of Boeing’s world leading insight into the aerospace sector and Ilika’s technology is proving to be very fruitful,” commented Graeme Purdy, Ilika’s CEO.
