Implantable cardiac devices are getting smaller with small leadless pacemakers which can operate through energy harvested from the vibration of the heart, and small pressure sensors that can be inserted via a catheter to monitor any changes in pulmonary artery pressure. We look at the benefits of solid state batteries in enabling these innovative next-generation designs.
